How’s this for an analogy…… “Everyone wants to ride their horse on a long loose rein, but first we have to have control. Riding on a loose rein before you have control of the horses feet, is like getting into your husband’s truck and not adjusting the seat so you can reach the brake!
Good Monday Morning!
My thought for the week is a quote of Ray’s… think on this while you are riding and enjoying your horse this week!~
‖If you are going to teach a horse something and have a good relationship, you
don’t make him learn it – you let him learn it.‖ Ray Hunt
A wise tale.. from a wise woman
The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.
The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said, “I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.” – Author Unknown

Legend comes home
If any of you have known me for awhile- you would know Legend.. he is my big Handsome Hanovarian, that has been leased to a dressage barn in the Bay Area for a bit. Well he came back 30 days ago…and the big fella was way underweight. I put him on a weight gain regiment, and he is back up to maintenance now .. In just 30 days! Here are the before and after pictures of him. He is a magnificent guy.. and is happy to be home and on retirement!
Another great quote to live by….
“My belief in life is that we can all get along together if we try to understand
one another… You’ll meet a lot of people and have a lot of acquaintances, but
as far as having friends—they are very rare and very precious. But every horse
you ride can be your friend because you ask this of them. This is real
important to me. You can ask the horse to do your thing, but you ask him; you
offer it to him in a good way. You fix it up and let him find it. You do not make
anything happen, no more than you can make a friendship begin.” Ray Hunt
